Hot on the heels of the latest 16% increase in the average electricity tariff for Eskom follows another announcement with a sting in its tail. Despite interventions by the SA President that saw the 2012 increase being restricted to 16% and not the planned 25.9%, Eskom will be allowed to escalate its base tariff by a further 16% next year, 2013.
The solution is so simple. Eskom is calling for consumers to reduce their electricity usages by 10%. In South Africa's climatic extreme areas, easily 30% of electricity consumption can be due to heating and cooling. This 10% saving can easily be achieved by installing thermal insulation under the roof and above the ceiling. The Eco-Insulation brand has become extremely popular among architects, builders and also individual house owners. In addition, it carries with it the great advantage of being an excellent sound absorber.
Noise reduction can be greatly improved in the office or factory by pumping Eco-Insulation into strategically located positions around the building, including the roof space / above the ceiling. Many clients have also requested that Eco-Insulation be pumped into upstairs floors in order to both insulate thermally and reduce noise levels below.
Can any brand of insulation perform effectively in achieving these goals? We believe that architects and building owners need to look very carefully at the pedigrees of each brand being considered. “If you want safety, Self-assured, performance and the knowledge that you are specifying an award-winning brand, then request Eco-Insulation Cellulose Fibre Roof Insulation by name.” says Eco-Insulation Founder, Cecil Homan.
Eco-Insulation carries SABS approval, is fire rated and was honoured with the Company of the Year Excellence Award by the Southern African Energy Efficiency Association during 2008.
